Sister Diana Well Wishes

Sister Diana Well Wishes

Sister Diana epitomizes the values that are not just true to her faith but also the most essential for running an organization. Her courage and resolve in face of the recent natural disaster was a classic example of that. She portrayed what a good leader should be through her actions and behavior. What I valued personally was her caring manner which was evident in how she conversed with the staff, faculty and students. When I came for the board meetings, one of the things I looked forward was an embrace from her and the way she inquired about me and my family. She was a genuine leader with a total dedication to Ursuline. It would be hard to imagine the college without her. Wishing her happy, healthy long life.
Raj Shendure, Board of Trustee Member

Dear Sister Diana, How does one say goodbye to a dear friend? I am having a difficult time finding the words to express my sadness at your departure. The news of your decision to leave surprised us all. In my opinion, Ursuline College and Sister Diana Stano are one in the same. I will miss you, but I know that exciting opportunities and challenges await. It has been and honor and a privilege to be your friend and colleague for the past 13 years. I have benefitted from your wit and wisdom and wish you every success in your future endeavors. Thank you for your 18 years of service to Ursuline College. God bless you and keep you in His loving care. With much love and affection.
Jean Siebert '99 Former Alumnae Board President

Your time as President has been a very successful time for the college. All East side residents thank you. Those of us who have been friends of Ursuline especially thank you for turning an uncertain future into a much more secure and innovative one. Now, I hope you will have time to enjoy your memories.
Ginny Lindseth, Former Member of the Board of Trustees

I wish to thank you for your service to Ursuline College. Every day you were there I have been proud of you and all that the college has accomplished. It is heartening that over your term as president Urban Community School was able to help out the education students who were learning how to give the "RRR" -Reading Running Record assessments and having the Art Therapy students interact with ours. You and the college have blessed us.

Sr. Martha Owen, OSU ’64SJ

Sr. Diana, Thank you for all of your hard work and support that you have brought to Ursuline College! It has truly been a blessing to know you, and I am forever grateful that you were such a great president to our school. Good luck to you!

Vanessa Consiglio ’16

What an incredible experience it was to take my capstone class in the Educational Administration Program with a segment taught by Sr. Diana. Her influence on those four Saturdays left a powerful impression about what it means to really know the students whose lives you touch as an administrator. I know that Ursuline College was truly blessed by your remarkable leadership and will be hard-pressed to find someone to fill your (very comfortable) shoes. God Bless You in all of your future endeavors!

Julianne Hills Polowyk MA’14

Sr. Diana always gives the best hugs! I always appreciate her welcoming arms as both a student and as a staff member. Thank you for your constant thoughtfulness and encouragement.

Emily Smith ’11 MA ’13

Sr. Diana - you've been a role model for me during my time at Ursuline, and I've learned a lot about leadership from observing and working with you. I admire your passion and compassion. Your dedication to the mission of the college is contagious and inspiring. On a personal note - when you took the time to check in on me and offered me peace during a time of loss, I felt so supported and grateful to be part of a community whose leader treats every individual with empathy and care. I wish you all the best for your retirement, and I'll miss you!

Carolyn Noll Sorg, Director of Undergraduate Admissions

Sister Diana, I thank you for all you have done and taught us through the visions of Ursuline College. I wish you the best with whatever the future holds. You will be missed!

Thank you for all your years of service. I hope to hear how you continue to serve in a new chapter of your life.

Kathy Murphy Hazelton ’69

Best Wishes for the future. We first met at a Washington DC gathering. I'll never forget how comfortable you made my husband Tom feel. You talked about maintenance of the campus. He always tells people how he met the President of Ursuline College and they talked about the boilers. Thank you for your kindness and your service.

Cheryl and Tom Claussen, Class of 1977

I will treasure how welcoming you have been whenever our paths have crossed. Thank you for serving Ursuline so very faithfully and lovingly. With God's special blessings and my prayers

Mary Lavelle Day ’70

Dear Sister Diana, I have found you to be an excellent example of an empowered woman. What a marvelous journey you have had the blessing to behold. I would expect nothing less from you than to continually learn and share this learning with others. Thank you for being a part of my life and I look forward to the day when we see each other again. Congratulations and God bless.

Rhonda Booms, Office Coordinator for Undergraduate Admissions

Hi Sister, You are the greatest. I will never forget how you always enabled me to feel important and a part of Ursuline whether it was in the hallways or at Urafiki. Your warm smile and strong hug will always encourage me. Best of luck.

Brenda Glass ’12

Sr. Diana, I would like to thank you on many levels for the many blessings you have given me. As an employee/student in the early 1990's, you provided support and encouragement as I worked with you when you were Dean of Graduate Studies, especially doing the Stephen Covey classes with you. Those sessions were very beneficial to me as an employee and as a student. I enjoyed working with Graduate Studies as a representative under Larry Mazzeno. Receiving the Gonzaga Award was very special to me. As I returned to become Alumni and Marketing Directors, your support as President was always appreciated and I learned a lot from you. Our Values, Voice, Vision slogan is something I will remember with pride because of my involvement with establishing it. I have my throw blanket on my spare bed, displaying it proudly. As we worked hard to establish Ursuline College as a strong women's learning institution, I learned many characteristics about myself and how I felt very committed to the power of women as leaders. The strongest tie I feel I have with you is the unique happenstance of helping you and the alum (I can't remember her name) on the golf trip to Southern Pines after I had been in NC. That assistance has led me to realize my true profession. In advocating for the alum at Moore County hospital, it led me to know a professional advocate who gave me the business idea. My social work education at Ursuline and the leadership skills I learned allowed me to create my own business, Triangle Senior Services. It took most of my life to prepare for this, but I'm here and I'm helping a lot of seniors and their families. I've celebrated over 10yrs. in being in business. I wish you nothing but the best in the next chapters of your life. I wish you many blessings and with true gratefulness, I say thank you!

Joyce Loebsack '95

Dear Diana, Thank you for your generous service to the ministry of the College. Well done good and faithful servant.

Len Calabrese

Sister Diana – From the very beginning of my days at Ursuline, you made me feel so welcome and part of the UC family. It is not often where you see the President of a college interacting with students by name and knowing them on a personal level. You were a great support system both academically and athletically. Not only are you a role model, but you showed us how to use our voice, stand by our values, and never stop searching and finding our vision. Thank you for always being an inspiration and someone I will always look up to! You have made an impact on so many lives and I know that will never stop!

Meghann E. Hess '09

Sr. Diana, All my best wishes for a healthy and happy future. It has been delightful to serve on the Board of the College of New Rochelle for these many years with you. Your wisdom and insight guided and inspired fellow trustees at every meeting. Our trip to Angela Country will always be a cherished memory for Pat and I. With prayers and good wishes.

Lillian Carney

During the most challenging times as a new college President I would regularly seek the advice of Sr Diana knowing that not only would I received carefully thought-out advice drawn from years of experience but also the added perspective of an Ursuline. Someone who has walked the path of generations of strong women of intellect, compassion and faith. Sr. Diana is a woman of integrity. She leads quietly, effectively, and gracefully and is someone whom I admire and respect deeply. She is a role model for all women and has left an indelible mark on the lives of many. I wish you many, many years of good health, peace, and happiness. God Bless!

Judith Huntington

Dear Sr. Diana I wish you much happiness in the next step in your wonderful life, retirement. You have served and given so much to empower others that will follow and you will always be on a mission. You will find yourself busier than ever now that you will have more time to explore. Blessings to you.

Rosa Kittrell Barksdale

When I first started back to finishing my college credits I had a young sister speak to my Statistics class. It was Sr. Diane Stano and she made a great impression upon me...enough to encourage me to keep on and finish my degree. My very best wishes as Sr. Diane goes forth into new areas, as she leaves behind fabulous growth at Ursuline and many, many students inspired by her leadership.

Suzanne Smith Nigro ’79

Sr. Diana, You have been a pleasure to work for and with over the past two years that Metz has been doing food service for the college. You will make an impact in whatever adventure you tackle next.

Thank you for the time and love that you have shown me personally. Every time you saw me, you made it your mission to give me a hug. I cannot fully explain how much that meant to me, but I can say you give the best hugs in the history of hugs.  I would also like to say thank you for your genuine support for the Arrow athletics. Good luck with the next chapter of your life. Whatever it is I know you will succeed at it.

Aaron Horn
Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

Sister Diana, as you begin the next chapter please accept my deep appreciation for your support, friendship and assistance. The Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges tens of thousands of students whom you never met have all benefited greatly from your counsel and leadership. Ursuline College is a much more vibrant and engaging institution because of your vision and commitment and our world is a better place because of your engagement with students, trustees, parents, corporate and foundation leaders and darn near everyone else whose life you have touched from the most humble to the most blessed. As you advance into this new role of serving God and the rest of us as a hospital Chaplin I hope that you continue to find great joy and fulfillment in each moment of each day. Your patients will certainly be fortunate to receive your care and your prayers. Ever onward!

Gordon Brollier

From a Nazarene to a Catholic, thanks for the sharing the love and grace of our Lord while making tough, good decisions about the institutions we hold dear. You will be missed and will always be my friend! Blessings, Dan

When Sr. Diana spoke at my new employee orientation I thought, "this is what leadership should sound like." She set a tone of caring and compassion that has carried through the wonderful years I've worked at Ursuline. I am so grateful for her time here, and I wish her all the best in her retirement!
