Five Volleyball Members Recognized

Five members of the Ursuline College volleyball team were honored as all-conference selections by the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, the league office announced Friday (Nov. 16) afternoon.

Junior outside hitter Alex Leister (Marshallville) and sophomore libero Kelly Stenger (Lake Catholic) earned second team honors while freshman middle blocker Elise Harcek, junior blocker Maureen Kelly (Padua) and junior setter Ashley Reinhart earned honorable mention status.

Leister led the team with 382 kills and was second on the squad with 443 digs. Her 3.18 kills per set ranked her second in the conference and she was fourth in the G-MAC in digs. Leister posted a career-high 25 kills against IU-Kokomo on Sep. 22, one of the 23 instances in which she reached double digits in kills. Defensively, she recorded 20+ digs in four matches.
Stenger paced the defense all season and led the G-MAC with 556 digs, more than half a dig per set greater than any other student-athlete in the conference. She reached double digits in digs in 29 of Ursuline’s 35 regular season matches and recorded a season-high 25 scoops against Glenville State College on Sep. 7.

Harcek tied for eighth in the G-MAC with 55 blocks. She was also third on the team with 118 kills and the only member of the Arrows to appear in every set. Harcek posted a career-best 11 kills against Trevecca Nazarene University on Sep. 29 and recorded a combined eight blocks against Fairmont State University on Oct. 13.

Kelly was second on the team in kills (252) and third on the squad in blocks (34). Her 2.21 kills per set ranked her seven in the conference. Kelly had a season-high 20 kills against Bluefield College on Sep. 8, one of seven matches in which she reached double digits in kills.

Reinhart stepped into the starting lineup and handled the setting duties for the Arrows this season. Her 737 assists –averaged out to 6.46 assists per set – ranked her second in the G-MAC. She dished out a career-high 43 assists against Bluefield College on Sep. 8 and later recorded 41 helpers against IU-Kokomo on Sep. 22. Reinhart had 30+ assists in eight matches and 20+ helpers on 20 separate occasions.
