Ursuline's Vanessa Consiglio Named Academic All-America® of the Year

November 24, 2014

Ursuline College junior forward Vanessa Consiglio (Milton, Ontario, Canada/Bishop P.F. Reding High School) has been selected as the recipient of the Academic All-America® of the Year award for Division II women's soccer as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

On the men’s side, Long Island University-Post senior forward Elvind Austboe has been selected as the recipient of the Academic All-America® of the Year award for the second straight year.

Consiglio is double majoring in business administration and marketing and carries a 3.95 grade point average. This fall, she helped lead the Arrows to their first-ever Great Midwest Athletic Conference championship after losing in the title match the previous two years.

She was named the G-MAC Offensive Player of the Year and was a first team all-conference selection for the second straight season after earning second team accolades as a freshman. Consiglio finished the year with 12 goals and 19 assists, good for a total of 43 points, while helping UC capture a school record 15 wins (15-4). The 19 assists top Division II and the 43 points rank her fifth nationally.

In 2013, Consiglio earned first team All-Ohio Division II honors along with first team all-conference accolades. Additionally, she was a second team NSCAA All-Midwest Region selection after finishing third in the G-MAC in goals (12), tied for third in assists (nine) and second in points (33). She was accorded second team all-conference honors as a freshman in 2012 after contributing seven goals and five assists.
