Freshman Nicole Burlinson has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference’s 'Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week,' the league office announced on Monday afternoon (Sept. 10).
She helped the Arrows place fourth at the Ric Sayre Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 8). On a wet 5,000 meter course, the freshman from Great Britain finished 22nd of 92 participants with a time of 20:56.50.
“We are very proud of how Nicole is coming along,” head coach Ralph White said. “She works incredibly hard so it’s nice to see her hard work pay off. As she continues to improve, our team will get better and she is the type of runner who will help get our program headed in the right direction.”
Her performance on Saturday marked the second time in as many tries that she was the first Arrow to finish the race. In her collegiate debut, Burlinson ran the 4,000 Bill Sudeck Invitational course in 17:08.10.
Burlinson and the rest of the Arrows are idle from competition this weekend but will be back in action on Sept. 21st at the Lorain County Community College Commodore Invitational.
