Historic Preservation alumna to present at national conference

September 09, 2014

As the premier educational and networking event for those who are committed to saving places, the 2014 National Preservation Conference, PastForward, pushes new frontiers in programming, outreach and engagement with robust opportunities for onsite, online and virtual experiences.

Held in Savannah, Ga., Nov 11-14, PastForward features in-depth Learning Labs, on the ground exploration through Field Studies, Intensive Workshops and live demonstrations, films and exhibits in the Preservation Studio. In addition, TrustLive, live streamed, marquee presentations that explore preservation through new lenses including sustainability, Generation Y, aging, climate change and technology, will engage new audiences and attract a virtual audience from around the country, and the globe.

Jessica R. Wobig (M.A. Historic Preservation Ursuline Alumnae '13) will present a session entitled, Where Hip Meets Historic, which discusses how preservationists around the country are giving preservation a new image. Other panelists include Bonnie McDonald (President, Landmarks Illinois), Bernice Radel (Co-creator, Buffalove Development), Will O'Keefe (Real Estate Specialist, Preservation Alliance of Minnesota), and Dana Saylor (Principal, Old Time Roots).

Ms. Wobig, who attributes her emerging professional excellence to the skills and confidence she cultivated while at Ursuline College, is excited to share her passion for placemaking with over two thousand conference attendees, ranging from advocates to architects, design experts, historians, planners, students and more. She is employed as an architectural historian with Environmental Resources Management (ERM), the leading global sustainability consultancy. Additionally, she has worked with the Ohio History Connection, Cleveland Landmarks Commission, and Cleveland Restoration Society. .
