Nursing students win the Jackie Cannarella Scholarship

April 09, 2013

This year’s Cannarella award winners include senior Rachael Toth, junior Abigayle Acord and sophomore Olivia Koch.

On March 25, 2013, Dr. Mary Lind Crowe (photo far right), Chair of the Cannerella Awards Committee, honored this year's award winners at the Breen School of Nursing meeting.

The Jackie Cannarella Scholarship was established by friends, family, colleagues and students in memory of Jackie, an instructor in the Breen School of Nursing from 1986 to 2008. The scholarship is designed to continue Ms. Cannarella’s legacy of compassion, her commitment to excellence in nursing practice and her generosity of spirit.

These competitive $500 awards are given annually to sophomore, junior, and senior students who exemplify Jackie Cannarella’s love for nursing and nursing education.

The award recipients are asked to make a pledge of honor indicating that they will emulate the generosity of spirit that inspired the Jackie Cannerella Scholarship by promising their future time, talents, and resources in assisting other nursing students enrolled in the Breen School of Nursing.
