Bea Indurain named G-MAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.

April 18, 2015

Ursuline College senior Bea Indurain helped to lead the track team to a second place finish in the G-MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships the weekend of April 18. Out of Ursuline's nine first-place finishes, Indurain was able to rack up four of them. Indurain won the 100 meter dash (12.39 seconds), the 100 meter hurdles (14.33 seconds), the long jump (5.36 meters), and the triple jump (11.20 meters). In addition, her times for both the 100 meter dash and the 100 meter hurdles set new meet records. Indurain was also a member of the 4x100 relay team which also won first place with a time of 48.52 seconds, which also set a meet record.

Indurain's outstanding performance throughout the season led to her being named the G-MAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year during the championship meet as well. This is the second time this year she has been named a G-MAC athlete of the year, with the first coming during the G-MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 28, where she was given the title of G-MAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.

Indurain was thrilled about the outcome of the championships, saying, "Conference is always something special, it is a different meet, it is a meet that every single performance counts and it is when you really do it for the team. Last year we won outdoor conference, this year we won indoor conference, so we were going to this outdoor conference as the leaders. We knew that this time everything would be different; the chances to beat Cedarville were really low but we fought until the last event. Once we stepped on the track we gave everything we had. We had a lot of good performances, a lot of personal records, and a couple school records. Personally, it is an honor to me to get G-MAC Athlete of the Year for the second time in a row. I knew I could get it. Coach Outman, told me that I was ready to win all of those events, I only had to focus on those and perform the way I did. So far it is been my best season ever and I want to thank coach Outman because without her all of this would not be possible. "

Indurain is also provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
