'Holy Women Icons' with Angela Yarber, Ph.D.

October 01, 2014
Location: Pilla Atrium

Rev. Dr. Angela Yarber is a scholar, dancer, artist, and minister. She has a Ph.D. in Art and Religion from the Graduate Theological Union at UC Berkeley and is author of numerous books, including The Gendered Pulpit: Sex, Body, and Desire in Preaching and Worship and Embodying the Feminine in the Dances of the World’s Religions.

Her latest book, Holy Women Icons, gives traditional iconography a folk feminist twist. Dr. Yarber’s icons have toured the country and her book features nearly 50 color images with an essay describing each woman portrayed. Holy Women Icons is more than an art show and book; it is a movement that seeks to empower and inspire.
