Alumnae Blog - Umbrellas for Peace Project

Want to be a part of the Umbrellas for Peace Project?
Join Ursuline College Art Therapy and Counseling student, Diane Fleisch Hughes with a global art project involving painting and decorating umbrellas by children and adults. Umbrellas for Peace is a world-wide organization spreading the word of peace. We would be the first in the state of Ohio to participate in the project. Diane is using this project as her thesis, which is based on the theme of building and strengthening communities using art.
Diane came to the Alumnae Office to see how we can involve alumnae into this wonderful project. Once she explained to me what Umbrellas for Peace was and how it was going to engage the entire Ursuline Community, we were excited to bring it to the Alumnae. As a participant, you will come to campus on April 26th to decorate your umbrellas and then be a part of the campus parade showcasing the beautiful umbrellas. You don’t have to be an artist to be a part of the Umbrellas for Peace project; you just need to want to spread peace! Sign your kids, friends, colleagues, etc. up for it. The more the merrier!
