Alumnae Blog - School Year Comes to an End!
May 01, 2013
School Year Comes to an End!It is May 1st, with finals next week and graduation the following week on May 17th this year has gone by in a blink of an eye. The Alumnae Association has been a part of many new events and projects this year which encouraged many new faces on campus and reconnecting with Ursuline College. Here are some of the fun things we did:
- Color Your Corner Project-we worked with local non-profit to re-do a child’s room so it was completely accessible for her. Four year old Jaida has spina bifida who loves to play with her dolls, color and watch movies with her sister. Alumnae teamed up with faculty, staff, students and Board of Trustee members to complete the project in January!
- Alumnae hosted a networking event at Marcus Thomas, LLC in March. We encouraged business, PR, visual communications, MBA and English alumnae, students and faculty in those areas to join us. We toured the new state of the art facility, listened to lectures on social media and the meaning of networking and continued a long relationship with a wonderful Cleveland company. Over 60 people attended.
- Art Therapy & Counseling graduate student Diane Fleisch Hughes contacted the Alumnae Office to help her produce her community art project for her thesis. We initiated a community art project with non-profit Umbrellas for Peace. We hosted over 70 people to paint umbrellas, march for peace on campus and then in July the umbrellas will be displayed at the Beachwood Community Center.
- We continued to support Playhouse Square by getting group tickets for alumnae. This season we saw Beauty & the Beast and Sister Act. We are looking to book groups for the 2013-2014 season soon!
As you can see the list is full of fun and inventive projects from all areas of the College and community. If you are interested in bringing an idea forward for alumnae or students, please do not hesitate to contact the alumnae office at firstname.lastname@example.org
Looking forward to 2013-2014! See you all soon.
