Resident Assistant

Paid Position

Applications are now being accepted for the 2015/2016 RA Team!  Deadline is January 23, 2015.

 The Resident Assistant, or RA, is a fellow student, typically an upper-class student who has lived in the halls at least one semester, and has been selected and trained to assist in maintaining a positive living environment. The RA acts as peer counselor and to ensure the overall safety of the residents. Each RA is responsible for all residents but is assigned specifically to a designated hall and floor. The RA's primary responsibility is to build community among the residents by planning programs, encouraging relationships, and enforcing policy. It is the mission of the department to create a living learning community that promotes the holistic development of students that is conducive to studying and also encourages positive social interaction.  RA's are required to be visible and available during their scheduled duty night and on rotational weekends. 

Food Service Committee

Volunteer Position

All residents are welcome to join the food service committee. The primary focus of this committee is to address any issues or concerns that students have with the food service. Meetings are held each semester between this committee and food service management. 

Residence Hall Council

Volunteer Position

Residence Hall Council is the residence hall programming and policy board which serves to assist the Residence Life staff in building community among the residents.All residents are members of RHC, each chooses how active she/he wishes to be in the organization.  RHC primarily plans social programs. Examples of past events and activities include: Cosmic Bowling, Haunted Ursuline and Little Sibs Weekend. The RHC president will be elected by the residents each year and will serve as a voting member of Student Government Association (SGA). Additional leadership positions include: Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Public Relations Liaison. These positions are elected in April. 

Peer Judicial Board

Volunteer Position

The Peer Judicial Board helps in governance of the halls. When violations of policies and procedures occur, the board is convened to arbitrate the situation. Through getting students involved in the judicial process, residents are able to maintain a high level of community. A nine member board is selected on a per case basis by randomly selecting students not involved in the judicial situation. The Director of Residence Life oversees the board.
