Snow Removal

The Facilities Department Staff is responsible and performs the removal of snow on campus. The objective of this policy is to make certain that the roadways, parking lots and sidewalks are ready for the incoming traffic coming onto the campus as well as keeping the roadways, parking lots and sidewalks passable for the Ursuline College Community.

Snow removal is most likely to take place prior to 8:00 AM for overnight snow fall. The Facilities Department Staff performs this activity prior to their normal weekday working hours. Conditions are monitored by the Security Staff when snowfall occurs outside of the normal weekday working hours, including weekends and holidays. If conditions dictate, the Facilities Department Staff would be dispatched to the campus to perform snow removal. In the event of continued snowfall, the walks and roadways will be cleared, as needed.

Depending on the amount of snowfall, the Facilities Department may ask that cars be moved from certain locations in the parking lots in order to remove accumulated snow between parking spaces. This is especially true for the residence hall parking lot. When the need arises your cooperation is appreciated.

Please contact Maintenance at 440-646-8303 or Security at 440-449-4204 if there are any questions or concerns.

Snow Removal Procedure

For your safety and convenience, we have established the following procedure. Please be patient with our crews as they are working to clear your way. The completion times are approximate as snow removal duration will vary depending on the depth and moisture content of the snow.

Security

Security is responsible for keeping the main roadways passable at all times and assessing the condition for a dispatch of maintenance for snow removal. Drive lanes are plowed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please contact Security for assistance if accumulated snow from the plowing of drive lanes prevents your car from pulling away from a parking space.

Maintenance

The snow removal procedure is implemented anytime an accumulation greater than 2 inches has occurred. The procedure and time needed to perform removal of snow will vary depend on the time of the snow fall, the duration, and the timing of subsequent or continuing snow fall. The times shown below are approximate and depict an overnight snowfall of under 6 inches.
