Types of Financial Assistance

Merit Scholarships
Usually based on merit or special talents, these funds do not have to be repaid. Check with each college to obtain application and deadline information.

Grants
Grants are need-based funds that do not have to be repaid.

Loans
These funds must be repaid, usually after graduation. To learn about various loan options, visit the loan information pages.

Work Study
Work Study is a job on your college campus. Students receive paychecks for the hours worked as they would any job.

GradReady is a tool provided by Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation to help students learn about funding options for school, setting up a budget and sticking to it, and money management and finances in general.  Feel free to set up an account and review the materials – it is available free of charge to anyone who wants to use the tool.  It’s easy to use and may just save you some money!
