This course will introduce trauma informed art-based strategies and creative applications that can be implemented into a socially
engaged therapeutic practice with individuals, groups, and in the community.

February 23-24-25, Thursday, 7-8 p.m. Lecture at Tri-C East, Friday-Saturday, Time TBA, CAT 545W-01 Cultural Competency:  Creativity, Crafting and Advocacy Workshop  Instructor:  Savneet Talwar, Ph.D., ATR-BC
Art therapists believe in the power of creativity as a tool for self-reflexivity, healing, and social change.  Making and doing has been the foundation of art therapy practice.  Drawing on the history of DIY movements, craftivism and fabrication, this course examines the importance of subversive acts in enacting cultural memory.  The role of craft and collaboration is examined to offer a critical 
account of how art therapy can actively engage with questions about:  feminism, gender, labor practices, immigration, genocide,
everyday histories, memory, trauma.

March 2-12, 2017--Service Learning Trip to Ozd, Hungary

Instructor: Katherine Jackson, Ph.D.
- Course can be taken as a 1-credit elective with course fee. Total cost of trip is $2,750 (includes air, lodging in country travel, and most food).
- Information session will be held in September 2016.
- Apply by letter of intent (why you want to attend this service learning experience) or send questions to Katherine Jackson at kjackson@ursuline.edu.
- Deadline for submission of intent letter: October 14, 2016, deposit is due upon acceptance. - Pay a $200 nonrefundable deposit to hold your spot.
Come join faculty and students as we embark on a healing mission to help Gypsy Roma children who are refugees in Ozd, Hungary. The service project will begin with a few days in Budapest exploring cultural sites. Journey on to Ozd, to provide care for kindergarten children using art therapy, therapeutic play, and loving kindness.

Volunteer Opportunity - Artistic Outreach Opportunity for Artists Over Age of 50
An artistic outreach opportunity. The encore art program focuses on bringing arts to seniors living in Cleveland. Looking for artists over the age 50 to participate in a volunteer capacity. This a volunteer program, there is limited reimbursement for local travel and supplies.
